First Response
In these Photos I used a skylight window to reflect the sky and the objects around. It is a good example of mirroring in photography.
Strand 1: Slava Semenuita Response
Photographer Slava Semeniuta, noticed the glimmering reflective beauty of the streets of Sochi, Russia after the evening rain. He had his camera handy and was able to "show the hidden beauty under our feet." The series of dramatically-colored photographs isolates neon shop window reflections in puddles and potholes and transforms the captured moments into otherworldly landscapes.
My Response
To recreate the light reflecting in water by Semenuita, I put drops of water on a black plastic covering in a a dark room and shone neon glow-sticks on to the water, creating bent light reflections making it the main focus of the photo. I took some with and without flash to experiment with the different photos I can create and Edited a couple to make the colours stand out even more.
Best Edit
WWW: A dark contrast and colour variation of setting with interesting patterns of neon glow-sticks on drops of water.
EBI: More variety of colour and different methods of coloured light. If I used different angles and methods of editing.

Strand 2: Petey Ulatan Response
Petey Ulatan is an artist who has a diverse body of work, stemming through a decade of creative pursuits. From surrealist art, contemporary design, to different genres of photography.
My Response
I like the contrast between the grass and the sky and i also like the fact the land is quite flat so its easier to edit and looks good when its finished.
This Photo was a success because i photographed a smaller, close up background but still bent the image to make the world seem like a cube. The background contrasts well with the sky creating a nice image to look at.
Strand 3: Suzanne Saroff Response
Suzanne Saroff creates fractured and skewed images of common foods as seen through vessels filled with water and glass objects. The images play with concepts of light and shadow resulting in distorted still lifes that appear almost like digital glitches. Something interesting about her photography is how she uses the shapes of the glass containers and the angle to create a distorted figure of the object.
My Response
I could work in her style by using the same idea of bending image perspectives with the use of water filled glasses. To make my work more original i could use the same idea as her but change the lighting, objects and take the photos in a more outside of the box way.
WWW: Nice sharpness with clear refraction of the patterns through the glass. Also has a nice contrast and ratio of black to white.
EBI: If I used a different angle with different patterns and included a variety of different glasses and containers.

Chosen Strand: Photographing through glass to distort the subject matter
Development 1
My intentions behind this response was to refract backgrounds through glasses of water. Im looking to develop this idea more as this is just a basic idea. I like the way this idea could turn out and be a good development further on.
WWW - I like the focus only being on the glass and the background bing reflected through it. the colours have a good variety and everything has a nice focus.
EBI - more photos potentially with a different coloured background.
EBI - more photos potentially with a different coloured background.
Development 2
I used a colourful crystal lens to create these photos, i was experimenting with different backgrounds and objects to photograph through the lens which is why i ended up with these. Im planning to create different images in further developments with the same idea in mind.
Best Edits -
WWW - Bright colours and image, colours compliment each other well.
EBI - Trees in the background aren't in the photo, just the main focus of the image.

Development 3
I merged the ideas of Development 1 and Development 2 to create Development 3. I used the idea of patterns and refraction from 1 and the colours and mirrored look from 2. They create a nice theme when merged together to create originality and outside of the box sort of images.
Best Edits -
WWW - The refraction of the colours creates a nice pattern with a good variety of bright colours.
EBI - If all photos had a similar range of colours they would look better together and if there were more interesting patterns and abstract objects.
EBI - If all photos had a similar range of colours they would look better together and if there were more interesting patterns and abstract objects.
Development 4
Im going to add to these ideas by photographing abstract objects through a coloured crystal lens creating colourful refractions of objects with a mirrored and bent look. Im also going to take photos of just the objects without the lens to create a comparison and variety of images.
I will edit these photos by enhancing the colours and increasing the sharpness, i'm also going to increase the contrast.
